2013-03-22 - Juan Pérez Fernández defended his doctoral thesis: "Characterization of dopamine receptors in Y and lampreys by using in situ hybridization, an evolutionary approach", directed by MA Pombal and M. Megías. The thesis tribunal was composed by Luis Puelles Lopez (University of Murcia), Dan Larhammar (University of Uppsala, Sweden), and María Isabel Rodríguez-Moldes Rey (University of Santiago de Compostela).
2010-12 - Cristina Solveira Fontenla defended his minor thesis :"Anatomical study of the spinal cord motoneurons in sea lamprey larvae ", supervised by M.A. Pombal and M. Megías. This study show the location of the motoneuron somata in the gray matter of the spinal cord depending on their targets, the different types of body muscle.
2008-12 - Juan Pérez Fernández defended his minor thesis :"Distribution of a neuropeptide Y receptor in the lamprey brain ", supervised by M.A. Pombal and M. Megías. This anatomical study was carry out by in situ hybridization and showed the distribution of the neuropeptide Y receptor in different brain locations.
2007-02-16 - María del Carmen de Arriba defended her PhD :"Organization and development of optic tectum connections in the lamprey, and expression of genes involved in zebrafish retinotectal pathway ", supervised by M.A. Pombal. The committee was: Ramón Anadón (Univ. of Santiago de Compostela), Agustín González (Univ. Complutense), Marina Mione (Istituto Firc de oncologia moleculare. Milano.
